'Joy School' by Mondelez International

Hello earthlings!
Okay, so this blog is dedicated to a very interesting and enlightening program that was held at our school last week, thanks to Mondelez International for making this a reality.

Proudly saying, Mondelez International has initiated a program called 'Joy School' with full support from the Malaysian Institute of Arts (MIA) , graffiti artists (Kenji Chai, Anokayer & Nestwo), character designer Orkibal, art educator Syahidah, and of course most importantly, Puan Nasran bt Nor, the active Headmistress of SMK Taman Melawati. Not to forget, the PMR students (batch 98's) participated actively in this program. We, the awesomest batch ever, with full enthusiasm and passion put all our hearts together in make this a reality.

Since most of the younger generations today don't really love going to school, this program is specially initiated to bring joy to secondary schools all over Malaysia. By painting and beautifying the school, there's this welcoming surrounding that really attracts students to love school more. The painted graffitis also create a different mood for students and obviously, as students, we feel more welcomed, happy and joyful by spending our time at school studying and learning. :)

One sure way to add more joy to a school that is filled with creativity and outspoken students is through colors, snacks and laughter.

I'm very proud to say that our school, SMK Taman Melawati, was choosen to be the first school for such program!

Okay, so let's get to know more about those people who had made this program a success ;)
Firstly, we have Mondelez International ! Do you know all those delicious addicting snacks you loooove to eat like Cadbury, Chipster, Oreo, Dentyne, Milka, etc ? (Because if I were to list down all of them, the list would go on forever hahaha) They are all part of the maaany brands under Mondelez International. The name "Mondelez" itself is very unique as "Monde" derives from the Latin word "world" whereas "delez" is a fanciful expression of  "delicious" . And there, Mondelez International is born! :D

Let's move on to our artistic and awesome graffiti artists. Meet Kenji Chai! He's a famous graffiti artist who has been hired to do a lot of artwork around Malaysia. Together with a group of students (Aida, Syahirah, Ida Faryna, Hazel, Khadijah, etc sorry I couldn't get all your names in here) , he amazingly created the "Jom Ke Sekolah graffiti on our school canteen's wall near the basketball court. It was the main graffiti of the day! But we'll come to that part later ;) As for now, if you want to know more about Kenji and all his amazing graffiti, you can go on facebook and search 'Kenji Chai Black Fryday

Next, Anokayer is also a very artistic and passionate graffiti artist who has many of his graffitis painted on various places. I personally like his graffiti of the gorgeous Yuna on the wall of Pasar Seni LRT, painted for Samsung. He is like sooo talented in drawing portraits! On the day of the program, Anokayer painted the colourful 'Saya Sayang Cikgu' graffiti on the wall near the canteen with a group of students (Syamimi, Najihah, Qaisara, Nurin, etc). Nestwo, one of the graffiti artists that participated in this program painted the 'Good Luck Melawati Students' graffiti on the wall near the school hall with the help of his team (Aishah, Afiah, Khaliq, Izzuddin, etc). Being a videographer, a graphic designer and a graffiti artist, he has created a lot of wonderful artworks of his. Check Nestwo's tumblr here; NES TWO

Orkibal, the character designer was also there to help and enlighten the students on something new that we, the students of Melawati have never tried making before. Photo props! Students who participated got to design, paint and make their own photo props for their fellow mates to take photo with. How fun is that?! Orkibal has designed a lot of fun and cute characters for phone cases, drawings and so much more. Want to see more of Orkibal's famous designs, search him on Google Images ;) you'll find lots of designs you don't want to miss seeing!

And last but not least, we also thank our headmistress, Puan Nasran bt Nor for giving her full support for this program. Being an active and passionate headmistress, she's always looking for ways to make SMKTM, the best school ever! And this Gempaknya My School Program really fulfills her dreams to make our school the most beautiful, clean and what else to say... the most JOYFUL school in Malaysia!

Now, isn't SMK TAMAN MELAWATI the most exciting school in town?

There were more activities that were held such as canvas painting and the snack booth. Yep, you heard that right, people! There was a SNACK BOOTH where we can sample snacks like Chipster, Oreo, Vita-C and Twisties for FREE! But more to that later, and as for now, keep on posted for the upcoming posts!
